The Bauhaus approach to Minimal Watches Design

The Staatliches Bauhaus

Founded by Walter Gropius in 1919 in Weimar, Germany, the Staatliches Bauhaus —commonly known as Bauhaus—, was an art and crafts school that changed the way architecture, design and art was understood, and the most influential modernist art school of the 20th century.

The Staatliches Bauhaus

Among other characteristics, the Bauhaus design principles were oriented to unite creativity and manufacturing, art and craft, design and function.

The revolutionary curriculum of the Bauhaus school emphasized functionalism through simplified, geometric forms that allowed new designs to comply with the Bauhaus principles.

 Less is more

Although not official, the motto composed by German architect and designer Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (Aachen, Germany, March 27, 1886 - Chicago, Illinois, August 17, 1969) is the most popular version of the ideas behind the minimalism. He was also the author of the phrase "God is in the details".

Do more, with less

The phrase belongs to the American designer and architect Richard Buckminster "Bucky" Fuller (July 12, 1895 - July 1, 1983). The phrase was born of the ideology known as the ephemeralizationr: the tendency of technology to do more with less, until you get to do everything with nothing (according to its author).

Less, but better

This phrase is from Dieter Rams (May 20, 1932, Wiesbaden Germany). Rams is an industrial designer, and was director of design at Braun. Tipped by rationalism and the Gute Form (continuation of the Bauhaus School), Rams imbibed Braun designs with a practical simplicity that not only survived, but expanded to many other brands and enterprises such as Apple itself.
